Diane Lunderville Memorial Hockey Scholarship

A hockey scholarship fund has been established in memory of Diane Lunderville. Diane served as the middle school secretary at St. Albans City School for sixteen years. She had a great love of children and was an avid hockey fan. It is our hope that this scholarship will provide a positive experience for the children selected and the sport that Diane supported throughout her life.

This scholarship (not to exceed $300.00 each) will allow a St. Albans City middle school
boy and girl to attend the hockey school of their choice. The scholarship will be awarded yearly at graduation ceremonies to the boy and girl that exemplify the characteristics that
Diane valued:

Love of Athletics

• Sportsmanship

• Desire to use one’s abilities to be the very best they can be.

Any questions should be directed to Casey Benedict or to Marcie Lewis at St. Albans City School (802) 527-0565.
Application available in the main office. Thank you for your participation.

The Franklin Grand Isle Bar Association would like to present a citizen award to a graduating 8th grader who consistently demonstrates respect for the rights of others and who has demonstrated leadership in the school or community. Deadline for applications is May 3rd.

Raider clothing is on sale until April 19th.
Order forms will be going home with students in grades K-6.
Grades 7 and 8 can get an order form from their P.E. Teacher.
The order form needs to be filled out and returned to your child's P.E.
Teacher along with the payment. Orders are due by April 19th.

Blue tie dye tee shirt - $15
Light blue hoodies in a zip up or pull over - $25
*Please note that the child sized hoodies run a bit small*

The logo will be on the back of all items and can be seen under "What's
Happening" and "News from the P.E. Department".
All proceeds will benefit Raider Athletics.
Thank you for your support!

Fuel up to Play 60
Last week members of the FUEL UP TO PLAY 60 and the food advisory board met with the Abbey to brainstorm our next themed lunch, and taste test items. Remember the Luau Party during spirit week? What a blast! All grade levels took part and incorporated healthy menu items (fruit and yogurt smoothies for one) and physical activity in the way of Limbo, hula hoop, and dancing to make for a fun lunch period. It’s a fact that eating healthy and exercising make you more focused during the school day, and if you’re focused you’re doing better work and getting better grades!! Keep MOVING and think about what you eat. It makes a difference! Anyway stay tuned for announcements about our next themed lunch. Here is a clue…. It is going to take place the first week of May and we may taste something called avocado. You also might want to start practicing some ZUMBA moves if you want to impress your classmates!
Hope you have a healthy day!
Ms. Lizewski

Spring Luncheon

You are invited to join your children for our spring luncheon. April 1st, 2010. The price for adults is $3.00 and $1.50 for children

*Think Spring! Think Gardening!*

The Down To Earth Community Garden is growing! Yes, we have room for
expansion and would like to welcome any interested teachers, staff or
student families to participate in the garden. There is a small fee to rent
a plot (3 sizes available). The gardener provides their own seeds or plants
and cultivates their bed all season long. At the end of the season each
gardener is responsible for cleaning up their bed. Water, compost, tools,
education, collaboration and support are provided. It’s a great way to eat
fresh vegetables all summer long, save money, get exercise and fresh air,
meet new families and beautify the City School landscape.

If you would like to learn more or know of anyone interested please email
Holly at dtecg09@gmail.com or call 524.2011. The season kick-off meeting is

Think Spring! Think Gardening!

The Down To Earth Community Garden is growing! Yes, we have room for expansion and would like to welcome any interested teachers, staff or student families to participate in the garden. There is a small fee to rent a plot (3 sizes available). The gardener provides their own seeds or plants and cultivates their bed all season long. At the end of the season each gardener is responsible for cleaning up their bed. Water, compost, tools, education, collaboration and support are provided. It’s a great way to eat fresh vegetables all summer long, save money, get exercise and fresh air, meet new families and beautify the City School landscape.

Summer Plans:
It’s not too early to be thinking about summer plans for your children such as camps and other recreational opportunities. It’s especially important for Franklin County residents who might be looking for financial assistance to support these plans. The Warner Fund offers such support but the deadline for applications is April 1st. If you are interested in a Warner Fund application or more information please contact me at 527-0565 or dennys@sacsvt.org.
