Veterans Day Permission Form

St. Albans City School Veterans Day Celebration

This Veterans Day, St. Albans City School will continue the proud tradition of involving the entire student population in honoring our Veterans in the Veterans Day celebration in Taylor Park. It has been three years since Veterans Day fell on a weekday when our whole school could attend. This year, November 11 is a Monday, so we have the opportunity to continue the tradition.

Our students walk to Taylor Park from the school. Our older students partner with younger students and we all walk to Taylor Park with an escort from the Vietnam Motorcycle Club. We watch the parade together, and after the parade, our prek-3rd-grade students return to school on buses while our 4th-8th-grade students assemble at the Gettysburg Monument for the ceremony. At the conclusion, we all walk back and have bagged lunches. The entire event will take approximately 2 hours including the parade, which starts at around 10:30am.

This event is expected to involve over 2,000 students and adults from 5 schools in the largest student celebration in Vermont. If for any reason your child should not be included, please let their teacher know. We do offer an alternative activity for children who cannot attend.
