Elm Street Railroad Crossing closed Monday September 13 and Tuesday September 14

Dear Families,

We have been informed about work on the railroad tracks at the Elm Street crossing that will impact students getting home from school Monday and Tuesday (September 13 and 14). Working together we can make sure our children get home safely.

Monday and Tuesday afternoon the railroad tracks at the Elm Street crossing will be closed for repairs. We have been told it will be open both mornings until 9:00. Students will not be able to walk over the tracks, cars will not be allowed through, and buses will not be allowed through.

Since our buses will need to go around, it will take a few more minutes to get students home. To minimize the impact on both days A session students will be dismissed 5 minutes earlier, and please expect that B students could be 5-10 minutes late getting home.

If you are coming to pick up your child, expect increased traffic (cars and walkers) and delays. We would like to keep car traffic away from our walkers, so we will be directing walkers to cross at Calvary and then remain on the sidewalk to Aldis Street.

Students walking, or riding home will be directed by crossing guards. We will have crossing guards posted to get students safely to Federal Street. They will cross at Calvary to avoid traffic, then follow the sidewalk around the City Garage and up Aldis Street to Federal Street. Please make sure your children will be comfortable with this route.

Sincerely,
St. Albans City School Administrative Team
