PAG2011 CAR WASH :
Thanks to everyone that made our 8th grade Car Wash a huge success on Saturday!! The students did a great job and our community really showed their support. Lots of nice clean cars out there!

Aldis Street Crossing is the on closed

Dear Families,

The information we received on Friday was not correct. The railroad crossing that will be closed is at Aldis Street, not Elm Street.

Our buses will not need to go around so students should get home close to their normal time.

Parents who made plans to pick up their child, should expect increased traffic and delays on Monday. The railroad crossing will also be closed on Tuesday, yet we expect to be back to a more normal release since the Aldis street railroad crossing has less impact on the school.

We will provide crossing guards for walkers due to the increased traffic. We will be directing walkers to Elm Street or Lower Newton Street, to avoid the Aldis Street railroad crossing area.

If you made a plan with your child and would like to change it, please call Mrs. Biggie at 527-0565 ext. 1101. She will get a message to your child.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this has caused.

Sincerely,
St. Albans City School Administrative Team

Elm Street Railroad Crossing closed Monday September 13 and Tuesday September 14

Dear Families,

We have been informed about work on the railroad tracks at the Elm Street crossing that will impact students getting home from school Monday and Tuesday (September 13 and 14). Working together we can make sure our children get home safely.

Monday and Tuesday afternoon the railroad tracks at the Elm Street crossing will be closed for repairs. We have been told it will be open both mornings until 9:00. Students will not be able to walk over the tracks, cars will not be allowed through, and buses will not be allowed through.

Since our buses will need to go around, it will take a few more minutes to get students home. To minimize the impact on both days A session students will be dismissed 5 minutes earlier, and please expect that B students could be 5-10 minutes late getting home.

If you are coming to pick up your child, expect increased traffic (cars and walkers) and delays. We would like to keep car traffic away from our walkers, so we will be directing walkers to cross at Calvary and then remain on the sidewalk to Aldis Street.

Students walking, or riding home will be directed by crossing guards. We will have crossing guards posted to get students safely to Federal Street. They will cross at Calvary to avoid traffic, then follow the sidewalk around the City Garage and up Aldis Street to Federal Street. Please make sure your children will be comfortable with this route.

Sincerely,
St. Albans City School Administrative Team

The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program has been a BIG hit! Thank you for all the teacher support in encouraging healthy eating. This week we can look forward to local pears, beans and apples. Since it is "Apple Season" we certainly will be taking advantage of fresh apples right off the trees of our local farmers! Keep trying new things and remember eating healthy makes you feel better.
