Announcements 9-14-12

SACS New Look Completed

We had an evacuation drill on Thursday, the first full day on Kindergarten, and the entire school made it out of the building in two minutes and thirty seven seconds! Way to go, SACS students! We are so proud of all of you. 

After the drill the entire school gather in front to pose for a picture that will be on the SACS homepage. 





News from Team USA

Team USA Milk Carton Committee meets with Tom from Northwest Solid Waste District, Mrs. Trainer, Mrs. Gunter, Mr. Pelkey, and Mr. Conger to discuss how our milk cartons could be recycled at City School.

Team USA Raider Report Committee meets with Kris from  Northwest Access TV (Channel 15) .  Kris provided a Video Boot-camp session to familiarize the kids about video equipment.

Team USA members have found a committee or two to work on and are well underway to solving some community problems, promote the school, organize events, and complete many other agendas.  Year long committees include Milk Carton, Energy, Commerce, Activities, Raider Report.  These committees are doing an outstanding job of getting involved in their work and collaborating to meet their goals.  Their progress and work will be outlined on their website throughout the year. - 2012-2013 Team USA Committees

Athletics


The 7/8 Soccer Boys and Girls Soccer teams have an away game at Fairfax. 

Boys play at 4:15
Girls play at 5:15

Wednesday night the 5-6 Boys soccer team played an impressive game against Sheldon Elementary holding them off with a narrow 1-0 victory.  The boys played very hard, passed the ball extremely well, and represented the City School with class by showing their 'Raider Pride.'  The boys practice tonight in cancelled.

Band Notice

Mr. Mehaffey is having the band instrument demonstration, today, (Friday), at 1:45 in the newly renovated band room for all 5th graders. The demo will be over by 2:20 at the latest. 6th graders who are starting do not need to come, since Mr. M already has their names.

Raiders Tae Kwon Do

Applications for 4-6 Raiders TKD will close on Monday September 17, 2012. Thank -you students for the great response. Mrs. McCarthy.

Field Trip

The Travelers' are going to Chapin Orchards to pick apples. They are leaving at 8:30 and will be back at 12:30.

Open Doors

Open Doors Brochures were distributed to students yesterday. The brochures are also available at the front lobby and Open Doors webpage.
