The Discovery Community observed Martin Luther King, Jr. Day by learning about the Civil Rights Movement. In the morning, students watched Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream..." speech along with another video about the Civil Rights Movement. For the rest of the day, students worked in small groups, each composed of a 4th, 5th, and 6th grader, to research important topics related to the Civil Rights Movement. Students presented their findings throughout the week. The topics researched were then added to a timeline of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s life. You can see the timeline in the Discovery Community hallway.
