SACS Day of Coding
What a great day we all had on December 9th - our Day of Coding.
Each student got a ‘Passport to the Future” that they had stamped as they move from one activity to the next. We provided access to digital and unplugged activities for kindergarten-8th grade students to help them experience coding. In addition we set up presentations with individuals with programming experience, used Google Hangout to converse with game developers and offered read-alouds and videos.
Our 7th and 8th grade students led activities to support the younger students, so everyone could access the learning on this day. They were instrumental in getting ready for the big day. They helped load software onto the iPads for younger students. They learned both the plugged and unplugged activities so they could be leaders and support the younger children.
Throughout our school we were all learning and gaining a deeper understanding and appreciation for the power of technology. Thank you to everyone who made the day so special.
Band
