Announcements 3-31-14

SACS Talent!

Recently SACS's own Rosie was contacted by the producers of America's Got Talent. They invited her to a special audition in Boston and if she is selected she will appear on the national TV show this summer! Way to go!

Words of the Week

We have two new words of the week.  They are:
Compare:  Identify ways things are the same (compare/contrast)
Ex. Ms. Cameron-Muscente likes to compare rhythms with her class.

Revisit: you think about or talk about it again
Ex.: Ms. Jarvis likes to revisit her days as a student here at SACS in the 1980s! (along with some other teachers. Can you guess who?)
Please don't forget our words from last week:  Persevere and and arrange
Are you doing any cool activities with these words?  Please post them on the morning announcements for all of us to see.

Band

Congratulations and thank you to the 7th and 8th grade band members who participated in the district middle school festival this weekend. Excellent job and you have made the City School proud of your extra efforts.

Full Orchestra and Jr. Band are rehearsing tomorrow. Do not forget your instrument. Normal lessons for strings and 5th and 6th grade are on for this week.

5th grade violins are this afternoon.

Open Doors

The following Open Doors classes are meeting today, Monday, March 31st
Ready, Set, Cook
Did you know that students from the learning communities of Triumph, Voyagers, Renaissance, Discovery and the Incredibles have been working hard after school creating props for the school play? Thank you to all the students for their "perseverance"!  When Samantha Gelfon, Unified Arts teacher saw them, she said "These are awesome!"  Thank you to Jamie Ayers, para-educator for Kaleidoscope for her creativity!
Girl Scouts Brownie Quest, Horseback Riding and Outdoor Exploration are all meeting today.

Geo Journey begins today. Drama students that signed up for Geo Journey will join Geo Journey after Drama ends.

April Walk to School Day

Don't Forget Walk to School Day on Friday April 4th
Think hard about joining your school mates walking in to school on Friday.  See if one of our six "Walking School Bus" passes near you and join us along the way. Boost fitness and reduce gas use by being a part of this event.  Collect a wrist band and a pencil for participating.  Parents and walking leaders can get free coffee and oatmeal at the Cafeteria afterwards and a ride home if need be.
