Announcements 5-6-14

Band

Jr. Band is rehearsing today, after lunch. 

Band lessons include CC, Emma, and Maya for today.

News from PE


During grades K, 1 and 2 physical education classes, students flew their hula hoop space ships all around our solar system.  They stopped their space ships at the sun and all 8 planets to review some facts they learned in science.  We even visited Pluto and the newly discovered dwarf  "Pink Planet".   Thank you to Mrs. Borst's 1st grade class for teaching us about the Pink Planet.


Open Doors


The following Open Doors classes are meeting today, Tuesday, May 6th:

Felted Fun will continue until Tuesday, May 27th
Archery will continue until Tuesday, May 27th
Hip Hop Tuesday

Girls on the Run does not meet today.

Tutoring

The last day for After School Tutoring will be next week, Wednesday May 14th.

Fitness Team


Fitness Team practice this week:

 Wednesday 5/7 from 3:15-4:30 and Thursday 5/8 from 3:15- 4:00 (time change)

If you are riding the 4:45 bus home, please sign up before 1pm in Main Lobby

National Bike to School Day May 7th 


On Wednesday May 7th City School will hold a bike to school event.  There will be two biking groups.  

1.  A 7:00am group will leave from Barlow Street Community Center, travel down Weldon and then up Elm street to City School.  

2.  Another group (7:30am) will leave the Senior Center down Messenger & Lincoln Streets to Bank Street and Taylor Park.  From there the group will go down Kingman Street to Federal street to Aldis street to City School. 

Both groups will be led by a Police Cruise Car and at least two cycling adults.

Please join us if you can.

Bike to School Day Help Wanted


If you are a staff member or 7th and 8th grade student with a bike and helmet, your help is needed on Bike to School Day.  We want a few more responsible leaders to shepherd younger students safely to school.  

We need people to start at the Barlow Street community center (7:00am departure) and the Senior Center on Messenger Street (7:30am departure).

Mangahigh Fai-To


Congratulations to St. Albans City School students who took part in our latest Mangahigh Fai-To.  The Raiders defeated the West Deptford Middle School to earn a new trophy!
