News from Dynamic Design

Dynamic Design Students have been busy getting the outdoor classroom ready!

"Energy Matters" Physical Science Culminating Event

To learn about Newton's Laws of Motion, Dynamic Design students constructed a "car seat" out of a milk carton to keep a raw egg safe.  After drafting and designing, with a budget of $20 "Dynamic Dollars" and a supply list, students were able to purchase a variety of materials such as rubber bands, cotton balls, and newspaper, along with pricey $5 "secret items" (which included marshmallows, peanut butter, and Jell-O!)  The car seats were launched with increased force from increased distances until only 3 eggs remained intact after several wall-crash trials.
Congratulations to Desiree, Cassie B., and Avery!  Thanks to the parents who came to watch and served as egg launchers!

Open Doors

Red Cross Babysitting Course-week of June 23rd
Open Doors has a great opportunity to offer Babysitting Training through the Red Cross for grades 6th-8th grade. Through hands on activities, interactive video and lively discussions, this course will teach students how to care for children and infants. Students will be trained in problem solving, how to stay safe, handle emergencies, and write resumes for jobs.  The course is a total of 7 hours and most likely will be held over two days in the morning from 9-12:30 each day.

Please call Open Doors at 752-6029 if you are interested in taking the class. Or, stop by the office to get your name on the list.  We need a minimum number of students in order to secure an instructor for the training.
