Announcements 10-22-14

News from Team USA




Team USA has continued its efforts to learn about, and get involved in, government through the people who work in it.
 US House Representative Peter Welch was a great speaker. He shared many stories about how Washington works. We were honored to have him visit us.

Last Wednesday evening, Team USA held a community forum for the St. Albans candidates for the Vermont House, and the Franklin County Senate seats. Several former City school students are running for these offices, so it was a a good time to possible look into our future.

 The questions were good, the answers enlightening, and the reviews fantastic.As a result of contacts made last night, several USA students will be involved in working at the Democratic and Republican Headquarters.

 Politics is more interesting when you get involved!

Band

Sr. Band will not be rehearsing on Thursday, but Jazz Band will, in it's place.

Joseph and Forrest have viola today at 10:30 sharp.

6th grade violins have lessons today at 12:30, please be on time.

Walking Wednesday - TODAY!




Check out the walking school bus routes we have and see if you can join us along one of them today.  The more people the better.  We will be handing out pencils and wrist bands to those who participate.

Open Doors

The following Open Doors classes meet today, Wednesday, October 22nd
  • Drumming for Success (Remember we have a second drumming class on Thursday.
  • Playwriting and Puppet Workshop
        Session B students taking Playwriting will board bus #6 NOT bus #4 at 3:10.  Playwriting   students will check in with Open Doors at bus #6 before boarding the bus.
  • Hip Hop
          Important reminder about Hip Hop

      At 2:40 dismissal Session A students enrolled in Hip Hop will go to the library not the cafeteria. This is different than last year.
      At 3:10 dismissal Session B students enrolled in Hip Hop will go to the cafeteria. 
          

All session A students taking Open Doors classes go to the cafeteria at 2:45 dismissal.

It is very important that all students riding the buses afterschool follow the bus expectations. 

Athletics

The 7/8 Soccer Teams have away games in Westford this afternoon.

Pre Season Sign Ups for grades 5-8 basketball and cheerleading will be held in the Cafe' this week.  Please see Mrs. Trainer during lunch.
