Cantaloupe is today’s snack
The wonderfully delicious cantaloupe or “muskmelon” is a member in the large Cucurbitaceae family (squash, pumpkin, cucumber, gourd) and like its relatives, grows on the ground surface as a trailing vine.

Muskmelons are thought to have originated either from India or ancient Persia or Africa. They grow best on well-draining sandy soil with a regular water supply, and require honeybees for effective pollination.

Cantaloupe is low in calories and fats but rich in vitamins and minerals that are great for health, especially Vitamin A.

Be sure to wash the outside of cantaloupes well before cutting up for eating.
