It concerns the 100 day mark in the school year. 2:12 minutes long.
Explorers 2nd Grade (Ms. Krieger) Conducted a Science Experiment
Second grade Explorers are learning about states of matter. They have been discussing physical changes in matter verses chemical changes. Last week they turned cream in to butter to make a physical change. This week they used vinegar (a liquid) and baking soda (a solid) to create chemical change. The two substances combined made a completely new substance... carbon dioxide (a gas!) Students watched the carbon dioxide form as it filled up and inflated balloons! LINK TO MANY PICTURES
7th and 8th grade students are working hard on different tasks in their Laser Cutting and Codesmyths electives.
The laser cutting students have been working hard designing their own puzzles. The prototypes were cut out of cardboard to make sure the puzzles pieces would fit together and were all individually cut out. Once their cardboard prototypes were cut out, a 12X12 piece of wood was rastered(engraved) with the image they designed for their puzzle. The puzzle was then flipped over in the laser cutter and cut out! The students had to test these again once they were cut out of wood. Come try out one of these unique puzzles at UA night Thursday, February 19th.
Some of the laser cutting students starting working on their last project, a dancing robot. They started the process with a bit of circuitry! Students had to connect a battery holder and a motor, they got to use tools like wire cutters and trimmers, and a soldering iron to connect the wires.
Students in Codesmyths are in the process of designing their own games and programs using either Scratch or Stencil. They have worked hard adding directions to their games, play, buttons, and content.
At SACS it is very important that everyone is kind and respectful to each other. Over the course of this week there will be some quotes to encourage all students to be kind and respectful to their peers.
Sincerely,
Renaissance Student Gracie Trainer
