PICTURES AND REPORTS

Empty Bowls - Donating Time and Artistry for Others!
5th and 6th grade students have worked very hard during the past several weeks to create bowls for this year's Empty Bowls Fundraiser for Martha's Kitchen. Students created slab bowls out of clay within a bowl form that were fired and then glazed with many different and exciting colors. In addition, a series of wheel thrown bowls were donated by Gillian Ireland and glazed by students in Triumph 6th grade. All were excited to participate and even more excited by the beautiful results!! A BIG thank you to all who participated in creating a bowl for this awesome event!  Tickets to the Empty Bowl Fundraiser on March 18 are still available for $10 at Rail City Market. Investigators Learned about Archeology on Thursday 2-23-2017
2nd Grade Investigators have been learning about Archaeology.  They excavated some yummy soil and careful unearthed a few tasty artifacts!  Following their careful observations, the students formed hypotheses about life in the past.  A few  predictions were:  "The soil must have come from near the sea because I found a fish and a duck." "It was in dinosaur times.  I found a dinosaur and some flowers nearby, so the dinosaur ate plants."  "People lived there because I found midden (garbage)."  Everyone agreed that eating the soil sample was the best part of the dig!
