START PLANNING FOR A WHOLE-SCHOOL WALK/BIKE TO SCHOOL EVENT ON STEWARDSHIP DAY LINK TO WALKING SCHOOL BUS MAP
Walking and Biking to School on June 7th -Stewardship Day
Other Vermont schools have managed to keep their parking lots empty one day a year. Last year we joined them and had great success. Let's do it again on Wednesday, Stewardship Day.
We want to minimize student drop offs by parents and ridership on the buses. We would love to have everyone who can walk or bike to school do so on June 7th. Parents, please consider finding a way for your child to join in on this school event. Teachers try to find a way to park at the beginning or along one of the walking routes to help lead the way to school.
BIKE REPAIR WORKSHOP JUNE 7th When: After lunch
Teachers help students sign up for one of the three repair workshops (12:15 to 12:45 pm, 1:00 to 1:30 pm, 1:45 to 2:15 pm).

REPORTS AND PICTURES
ELITE BASKETBALL PLAYER VISITED TRIUMPH On 6-2-17, Team Triumph had a guest speaker, Mr. Manny Robertson. He talked about his career, his history of basketball, and the importance of education. He donated a basketball and then he went outside and played basketball with the team. He came to lunch and socialized with many of the Triumph students. All of the students loved him, some of them even asked for his autograph! He was a positive role model to the team and a great mentor, we hope he can come back soon. LEARNING ABOUT HEARING LOSS In honor of Better Speech and Hearing Month, Emma Walker has been teaching second grade about hearing and hearing loss. She has visited Imagination (her home team), Explorers, and will be going to Investigators. If anyone else wants to learn about hearing, hearing loss, and how to protect your hearing, please let her know. COMPOSTING - A MESSAGE FROM RENAISSANCE You may want to know what St. Albans City School is doing about our fruit and vegetable scrap leftovers? If so, you can learn from Renaissance students who have kindly provided a 2-minute overview of composting. Check it out. Another short composting video will be shown in tomorrow's announcements. On Stewardship day, June 7th, Renaissance will be doing composting instruction for different learning communities at our school.
SACS DRONE
Pilot Ms. Bertucci used St. Albans City School's new drone to record the 6th Grade Bike Trip on Thursday 6-1-2017. Students and staff tolerated the drone's mosquito like sound and presence as it recorded video at multiple points along the trip. The irritation was worthwhile as the drone collected beautiful 4k video. A summary video of the trip will be assembled by the end of the school year. The drone will be used to document a range of outdoor projects at the school in the upcoming years.
GIRLS ON THE RUN 5 km Race The girls on the run team gathered in costume on Wednesday, May 31st for a planning session prior to running their 5 kilometer race on Saturday June 3rd. If you are reading this on Friday evening the 2nd, then wish them well tomorrow. If you are reading this Monday the 5th, then ask your schoolmates how the event went. COMMUNITY AND SACS GARDEN WATER SUPPLY Plants in the community and school gardens are supplied with water by the St. Albans Fire Department. All the garden water tanks are now topped off for this year's growing season. THANKS. VIDEO OF FORMER STUDENT SINGING Lucia Pelkey from BFA sings at their end of the year choral concert. Lucia is a former SACS student who will be attending Saint Rose in Albany next year. She will be studying English and Music. The video is 3 minutes and 50 seconds long. 6TH GRADE BIKE TRIP PICTURES The weather cooperated for an epic bike trip out to the Abbey Restaurant on the rail trail. Students celebrated their country ride with a wonderful cookout and ball games in the Abbey fields and on the volleyball courts. A portion of the students were up for the ride back to school as well. A good time was had by students and the staff that came along to chaperone the event.
