SUMMER PROGRAMMING REPORTS AND PICTURES
SUMMER SCHOOL STARTED
Busloads of kids arrived on July 24th at St. Albans City School to join the summer school program. Many children were excited to be here and others were a little nervous at being among so many people again. Teachers tried to make the atmosphere as welcoming and warm as possible. Here are a few pictures of the arrival and breakfast.
OPEN DOORS SUMMER GARDENING
Last week kids in the Open Doors program helped address the abundance of weeds in the garden beds behind the school. They worked hard at clearing the large weeds out and then picking out the small ones. The school is considering covering these beds with weed proof ground cloth until a good use for these garden sites is determined. One challenge associated with this site is its north-facing location. Plants don't grow as well here as they do on the southern and front side of the building.
