SUMMER REPORTS AND PICTURES
HUMANITIES CAMP, HIP-HOP, THEATER AND EXPLORING LOCAL ECOSYSTEMS
Eighty kids came to join the first week of summer programming at St. Albans City School. There were a lot of smiling faces as children stepped off the buses in anticipation of a boat load of fun activities that lay ahead of them in the coming days. Breakfast was served for those who wanted it. Then Mrs. Sawyer and Mrs. Jehle sorted the kids into their requested groups before giving an overview of each program's schedules. Mrs. Sawyer achieved an immediate overall group bonding by having students join in on a fun group circle and singing activity. She closed the morning gathering by having everyone take a moment to think positively about others, especially those unable to attend on this day.
SCHOOL GARDEN WEEDED INTO SHAPE Mrs. Eddie Morrie, Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Rochleau have all been working hard to get the school garden tilled, weeded and planted so that when students return in the Fall there will be something to harvest. The garden location is a challenging one with soil that was initially poor in nutrients and water logged at times. Years of patient work by Farm to School coordinator, Mrs. Smith, and many volunteers have begun to turn that situation around.
