CLEMENTINES:

The clementine is a member of the Mandarin orange family. It is a cross between the tangerine and the Seville orange.
They take their name from Father Clement Rodier, a French missionary who is said to have created the hybrid in 1902. However, some people claim the clementine originated in China.

PICTURES AND REPORTS

STUDENT LEADERS ON DAY OF CODE
Many of our older students stepped up and did a fantastic job running the day of code. They assisted Ms. Borst, Ms. Bertucci, Ms. Markoski and Mr. Mandeville.

DAY OF CODE EMULATOR
Lots of students checked out the emulator station on the Day of Code. They experienced the computer games of 30 years ago to learn just how far we have come in programming gaming software.

4-6 GRADERS VISITED WELDEN THEATER TO WATCH WONDER
300 middle schoolers made the trek up to the Welden theater to watch Wonder, a movie that faithfully follows a book that many had been reading for school. The cool December weather was not a problem and students were impressed by the film.  12-8-2017

VOYAGERS & RISEVT
The Voyagers completed enough health and wellness activities to warrant a reward visit from RiseVT.  Jessica Frost came to visit and she had the students complete two exercises. First she handed out cereal boxes and had the kids tally up how much sugar is in a typical serving. Students spooned sugar into a cup to see what that amount looked like. It was impressive to see just how much added sugar there are in many cereals. Kids learned which cereals are healthier because they have less added sugar. The second exercise involved using pictures of foods and a "my plate" chart to learn which categories food fall into and how much one should get of these foods each day. Ms. Frost's visit was useful for trying to impact eating habits.
