RECESS WEATHER
It looks like a good winter day to go outside. Consider walking around the outer edges of the fields and exploring school property. Unfortunately, the sledding hill, gaga pit and playground remain problematic due to ice. The snow tubes will not be out for use. Please stay off the giant snow piles. Thank you. |

EVENTS AND NOTICES
COLORING CONTEST
The Kindess Krew would like you to know that the Coloring Contest due date has been changed to Thursday, February, 21st to give participating students more time to color the sheets. Seventh- and eighth-grade students will be coming to pick them up in the morning of the 21st and if students are not ready they will come back at 2:00 PM. The turn-in date is the 21st and not later. Thank you.
Team Triumph Culminating Event Details
Team Triumph’s Life Science with an Engineering Focus Culminating Event is on February 21, 2019 from 8:00-9:00 am.
Team Triumph students will be presenting their eCybermission/Biomimicry projects to families in a presentation style. Students have designed 2D and 3D models of their prototype and have prepared Slide Shows to present at the event.
FAMILIES OF 4TH GRADERS
On Friday, February 22nd, 4th grade will take the NAEP assessment. The links below will take you to letters that explain the expectations for that measurement.
What is NAEP?
It is a Common Measure of Student Achievement The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) is the only assessment that measures what U.S. students know and can do in various subjects across the nation, states, and in some urban districts. Also known as The Nation’s Report Card, NAEP has provided important information about how students are performing academically since 1969. |
NAVIGATORS ART Ms. Mayer has been working with children in the kindergarten community to create little animal figures for dioramas. These are woodland scenes created in boxes that help children understand nature and the creatures that inhabit the outdoors. The dioramas are on display in the library and throughout the kindergarten hallways. Check them out. LINK TO 19 PICTURES from Ms. Adam's classroom. SAMPLE DIORAMAS These are located outside of Ms. Williams classroom.
DISCOVERY ART
Students from Discovery worked with Ms. Haberman on one of two projects; painting their ceramic clock bases or painting thick paper for a weaving project. The clock projects are particularly interesting because students had to plan space behind the ceramic (clay) base for the clock mechanism. They also needed to ensure that the ceramic clocks were thin enough for the clock mechanism to stick through a drilled hole. Proper thickness would allow for the attachment of clock hands. The first picture below showcases one of the more successful projects. LINK TO 10 PICTURES
ADVENTURERS
Mr. Lewis' students practiced their hula hooping skills in the little gym on Tuesday 2-19-2019.
