SUMMER CLEANING, REPAIRS, AND UPGRADES ARE UNDERWAY
Over 60,000 square feet of classroom spaces need to be cleaned thoroughly before the upcoming school year. Classrooms have to be emptied to wax floors and scrub walls, windows and doors. All this work has to be accomplished around summer school and Open Doors programming. Fortunately, we have a capable and committed crew of staff to get the job done. We wish them well on the big task ahead.

MONARCH BUTTERFLY CATERPILLARS OBSERVED
Mrs. Smith took these photos of Monarch butterfly caterpillars eating milkweed. For years now St. Albans City School has been saving milkweed seeds and planting them in school gardens. Special efforts are made to protect the milkweed plants while they are growing in hopes that Monarch butterflies will benefit. The initiative seems to be working.

FLOWERS
After more than six months of leafless trees and brown grass or snow, we are now in the high growth season. Plants are thriving around the school.  Here are a few of the flowers growing near the flagpole area of the school.
