ATHLETICS All athletes will receive their registration paperwork on the first day of school within their classes and at lunch. There is an informative parent meeting at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, September 3rd in the cafeteria where all of the paperwork can be turned in and the athletes can meet their coaches. All Fall athletics will begin on Wednesday, September 4th.  Fall schedule: https://docs.google.com/document/d/12IiRxtC76PTj_cuY-J7krGqq2j3enpFT/edit  There will be two 5/6 girls soccer teams- white and navy, 5/6 boys soccer, 7/8 girls soccer, 7/8 boys soccer and cross country for 5th-8th graders. Most 5/6 girls soccer practices will be scheduled together but games will be played separately.

COMPLETED PAPERWORK NEEDED Families, your child should have returned home with a folder of papers to fill out and return to the school. The completed forms are vital to the function of the school.  Please send them in to your student's teacher as quickly as possible. Verification Form: This form asks for essential contact information in case we need to reach you during the school day. Health Form: Our nurses need information about health issues, medications, and vaccinations. Technology Use Form: We need to know that you and your student agree to all the guidelines listed for the use of technology in the school (computers etc.). Free and Reduced Meal Form: This form should to be filled out by every family regardless of need. It is the way the school qualifies to receive free breakfasts, snacks, lunches and afterschool meals. Schools that have a substantial portion of their students who qualify for free and reduced cost meals can receive money for free summer meals for those 18 and under. These schools also get support for farm to school programs. In summary, your participation ensures that every child has access to healthy food. Thank you. ALBANS CITY SCHOOL The Y has decided there is enough interest to support an afterschool program at St. Albans City School. The Y is committed to providing children with a safe, enriching and fun environment during out-of-school time, where we foster positive physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth. Our curriculum complements the school day with extended learning opportunities that include sports, outdoor play, the arts, skill-building clubs, STEM, literacy and more. Each Y School Age program is available to all children in grades K-6. Our full-week options and hours are designed to meet the childcare needs of working families. Our flexible enrollment schedule encourages children to participate who may need enrichment, exercise or a supervised environment with positive adult role models just a few days each week. HERE IS AN ADDITIONAL FREE SOCCER OPPORTUNITY TO CONSIDER Saint Albans Youth Soccer Club (SAYSC) Fall 2019 Soccer registration is open. Our fall program is designed to complement Rec Dept and school soccer. Registration is free ($0), including the tournaments. U8 Boys, U8 Girls, U10 Boys, U10 Girls, U12 Boys, U12 Girls, U14 Boys, and U14 Girls; birth years 2006 through 2013. We will have a fall program for every age/gender, regardless of player numbers. PICTURES AND REPORTS SCHOOL RESOURCE FAIR Family members, if you missed the chance to talk with the school registrar, athletic director, nurses, after school programming staff, school picture takers and more, you will have another opportunity to do so on September 26th at the School Open House. PICTURES FROM THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL Every learning community focused on welcoming students back or welcoming new students to the school. All kinds of activities were offered to get students talking with each other and functioning together as a team in fun and challenging ways. Fortunately, the weather cooperated to allow for some of the activities to take place outside. Others occurred in the classrooms or the gymnasiums. Students departed just before 10:00 AM. On Thursday, the first full day of school will take place and the 2019/2020 school year will be off and running.
