Dear St. Albans City School Families:

On Tuesday, September 17th at 11:30am in the gymnasium, our 7th and 8th-grade students will have the opportunity to hear John Halligan, international speaker and author, address the impact of bullying and harassment in schools. PICTURES AND REPORTS

SACS WINS HEALTHIEST SCHOOL RECOGNITION
We are proud to announce that St. Albans City School has been named one of America’s #HealthiestSchools by @HealthierGeneration! Three hundred and fifty-five amazing schools around the nation are being recognized for this honor this September 2019. We are the only school in Vermont with this designation. The healthiest school award came about when Ms. Frost from RiseVT suggested that our school apply for the award because we had already taken nutrition and exercise actions that would qualify for this recognition. This past spring, a large committee formed to gather the volumes of information necessary to apply for the award and the paperwork was submitted prior to the end of the school year. On the 16th of September, we heard back from Healthier Generation that our school had won recognition for our sustained health promotion work. Look for us on their official list! www.HealthiestSchools.org

We want to thank everyone at St. Albans City School and in the community who worked so hard over the last decade to give our students and staff the healthy futures they deserve.

90% of the recognized schools scored bronze, just as we did.

NAVIGATORS PRE-K
Ms. Stanton's students helped raise a monarch butterfly in their classroom. It was ready for release on Monday, 9-16-2019. Everyone trouped outside early in the morning so that Ms. Stanton gently could gently take the butterfly out of its carrying box and place it on a milkweed plant in the butterfly garden.  LINK TO 12 PICTURES

NEW CHICKENS JOIN THE ST. ALBANS CITY SCHOOL FLOCK
Eight young chickens were added to the small flock already present. There is a lot of enthusiasm for having chickens on school property and there is plenty of room for these additional egg layers. The photos below are of USA students coming out to greet the new chickens and to connect with those already here.  9-16-2019

INCREDIBLES SIT-UPONS
Incredibles students have been assembling small mats that they can sit upon during the school year. Each one is uniquely decorated with artwork and each is sewn by the student who will use it. Mrs. Lamb and Ms. Aliquo supervised the sewing process pictured below. LINK TO 12 PICTURES. Some pictures provided by Mrs. Lamb.
