ART
Fresh art goes up regularly in the atrium next to the cafeteria. This space was established as an art display room 50 years ago. The same display boards are used for posting current students' art. Here is one recent piece of work now on display.

OPERATION HAPPINESS UPDATE

STEELER OF THE YEAR
Recently several students from St. Albans City School received end-of-season awards for their contribution to the Steelers football team. Drake Remillard was mentioned in a recent posting.  Landon Underwood, third from left in the picture, also deserves attention. He earned the Steeler of the Year Award this season. Landon showed substantial and continued improvement from last year and then throughout this year's season. The coach was impressed by his "no-quit attitude" and his effort to always push the team to do better in practices and games. In summary, the coach felt he got better because he put in time in the offseason for football-specific training which really showed he has a strong commitment to the sport. The school is proud of Landon's growth and leadership qualities.

KINDNESS KREW TO MARTHA'S KITCHEN

Several of the Kindness Krew members delivered pies they had baked to Martha's Kitchen. They were welcomed and thanked.

From the Martha's Kitchen website: For over 30 years Martha’s Kitchen's primary focus has been to try and meet the basic needs of food and companionship while offering hope through compassionate service.

Supported by area churches, businesses and individuals, Martha's Kitchen relies on volunteers who strive to welcome, inspire and nourish. The staff and volunteers seek to restore relationships through respect and dignity.

SPEAKING OF PIES

You may sometimes wonder what your peers are doing elsewhere in the school district. On Tuesday 11-27-2019, Fairfield Center School held a massive middle school pie bake-off. All 60 students in three classrooms created apple pies that were ultimately judged on appearance and taste. The students had to research recipes for pies prior to the contest and then had to assemble the pies in a timely manner using the ingredients supplied. Everyone except the cleanup staff loved the event.

Waiting to be baked
