COMPLETED EVACUATION DRILL 12-5-2019
Each year the school practices several evacuation drills. On Thursday at 9:15 AM all the St. Albans City School students headed to the section of the building containing the gymnasiums. There are multiple exit doors at that end of the school and buses would swing by to transport students and staff away from school in the event of a genuine emergency. Instead, each learning community quietly headed into the gyms, PreK & Kindergarten into the little gym and everyone else into the large gym. Once everyone was assembled and accounted for, they were released back to their classrooms. This drill was noted for the quiet and orderly way everyone participated.

It took 3 1/2 minutes for the youngest kids to assemble in the little gym and 2 1/2 minutes for them to leave the gym for their classrooms. It took 12 minutes for the much larger group of older students to gather in the large gym and 7:45 minutes to exit the space. Thank you to everyone who made this a successful drill.

EXPLORERS MATH

Ms. Fenton carefully explained how numbers can be rounded up or down to the nearest 10. Then, students went to work on a series of rounding tasks. Ms. Halvorson co-taught the class with Ms. Fenton. 12-4-2019  LINK TO 34 PICTURES

OPEN DOORS EXPLORERS  -AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMMING
Here are a couple of photos of the holiday tree decorated by the Open Doors Explorers and Ms. Sue Bessette. This tree will be displayed at City Hall for the St. Albans Festival of Trees. All ornaments on the tree were created by the students in the Open Doors Explorers program. The second photo is two of our wonderful maintenance men, Gil and Richard, helping carry the tree to the lobby! The last photo is of Ms. Beck and Ms. Seymour saran wrapping the tree for transport up to Main street.

DREAMERS KINDERGARTEN - WILLIAMS CLASSROOM
Ms. Borst introduced these kindergarteners to the concept of programming. One student dressed as a robot and Ms. Borst provided that person with movement instructions using code. 12-4-2019
