ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR TUESDAY, OCTOBER 26th

LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL AND ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

Dear St. Albans City School Families –

We want to start our letter to you tonight by thanking our families for their continued support in helping us remain safe. We have had many families that kept students home when they were ill and in several cases, when they did have a positive test result, it did not impact the school community. While we did report a Thursday and Sunday positive case that impacted our school community, these were the first in three weeks. We know how hard this is and we want you to know how much we appreciate your willingness to help keep us all safe.

We also know how much we all want life to get back to normal. While we are keeping many of the protocols in place for safety, we hope that the changes we made this year help students feel a little more like normal, while still wearing masks and staying in their pod. Our students, staff and families remain supportive and really good about helping us keep things safe.

November 1st to the 5th is Portfolio Conference Week. November 5th there is no school, and the 1st to the 4th conferences are in the evenings. Last year we offered these conferences as Zoom meetings, and they were very successful. This year we will continue to offer the Zoom option that worked so well last year, and we are offering in person portfolio conferences for families that would really like that option. We know that some of you are in your first or second year with your new team and you may not even have seen your child’s classrooms. We believe we can do this safely if we all follow the School protocols.

When your teachers reach out to offer conference times, you will have the option of in person or Zoom. If you choose in person, we are going to ask that you follow all school protocols. You will enter the building where your child enters each day. If your child is on the second floor, you will need to enter the front door. Once in the building all members of your family must wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth completely. The mask must remain in place even when talking. We have asked that teachers are 6 feet from your family at all times, and that there is only one family in a room at a time. Finally, we ask that families adhere to the schedule and not come early for their meeting. This could create congestion that would not be helpful. We believe this will keep all of us safe, while giving families the option of having an in person experience.

Thank you for your continued support throughout this school year. We are looking forward to another successful conference week.

Joan and Stacie
