WALKING WEDNESDAY RESULTS

Given the recent run of wet and cold weather, Wednesday morning’s turnout was excellent. One hundred and seventy-one people walked to school - 148 students and 23 adults. The morning was crisp, calm, and beautiful. Teams USA and Voyagers deserve recognition for their high participation rates.  Link to 38 Pictures. 10-20-2021

FRANKLIN COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL XC CHAMPIONSHIP RACES

St. Albans City School hosted the first Franklin County Middle School XC Championship races on Tuesday afternoon, 10-19-2021. Our school staff partnered with BFA Coach, Mike Mashtare, and the St. Albans Recreation Department to put together a 1.75-mile race course around the Hard’ack fields and cross country trails. Numerous volunteers assisted with the races. Six schools showed up to participate. Next year we hope to double the school participation rate from Franklin county middle schools.  Almost all the cross-country runners from our school (3rd grade-8th grade) tested themselves over the grassy terrain. Here is a Link to 48 Pictures from the boys’ and girls’ races.

CIDER MAKING WITH H.O.P.E.

Experiences like making cider can often ignite a student’s interest in being at school and learning. There are so many aspects of turning apples into a liquid that beg to be understood. Most students are excited to be a part of the process. Mr. Deslauriers and Mr. Hoben collected donated apples from Shelburne Orchards a week ago with the purpose of giving kindergarteners a hands-on learning experience and offering time for them to ask questions. On Wednesday, 10-20-2021, two groups made batches of cider. Check out their pictures. The cider is filtered and pasteurized before serving to students. The extra cider is being shared with the cafeteria to make apple muffins that will be served to students.
