Spotlight on Discovery
Earlier this month, students on Discovery were challenged to recite poetry. This was part of the poetry unit. Students participated in a Poetry Slam. Each student memorized and performed a poem of their choice in front of their classmates. The poem could be one they wrote themselves, a personal favorite, or one they discovered and enjoyed when learning about poetry. The students did a great job reciting the poetry and discussing the poems they chose.
Fourth graders have been working with Skittles to learn fractions and practice the central tendencies (mean, median, mode, range). Fifth grade had a drawing contest using geometric shapes. Sixth graders have been working on a digital newspaper they call the St. Albans Chronicle.
