St. Albans City School will be hosting our 2nd annual Day of Code event. The day with be filled with digital and unplugged activities to teach computer programming for all grades and amazing presentations from experts in computer science fields, including our school hosting a nation-wide Google Hangout with Michele Joel, the president of Social Sitter, Inc.

Band
Band
The City School Orchestra will be presenting our winter concert on Thursday night at 7pm in the Library. It will be featuring solo's by beginning thru 7th and 8th graders, along with the full orchestra.
All Junior Band lessons will be tomorrow since two teams are at Jay Peak - full Jr. Band will be rehearsing on Tuesday and Thursday.
Beginning violin and cello lesson is this afternoon.
Lockdown Drill on Friday
During our lockdown drill on Friday, students and staff were thrown a curveball when the fire alarm was pulled. We are so proud that all students knew just what to do and it was handled perfectly.
Safety Tip
Remember that any time you are in a lockdown, you stay behind locked doors. On Friday, when the fire alarm went off everyone knew just what to do and didn't come out of lockdown. Nice work!

The Unified Arts teachers will be sponsoring a family night to allow students to showcase their achievements and activities in art, music, family and consumer science, languages, physical education and technology education. There will be musical performances, art activities, physical education activities, and taste testing occurring throughout the evening. A schedule of activities will be available at the front desk on the evening of the event.
We hope to see many families on January 27th!

All session A students taking Open Doors classes go to the cafeteria at 2:45 dismissal. It is very important that all students riding the buses after school follow the bus expectations.
YBRS
On February 4th, seventh and eighth grade students will participate in the Vermont Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) sponsored by the Vermont Agency of Education and the Vermont Department of Health. A letter with more information about the survey, including the opt out form, are going home with your child today.
