Walking Wednesday
As usual, we want a large turnout. If you have not joined in before, check out the walking school bus map for routes and times. Parents are welcome to join in.
There will be no organized biking group, but you can still bike in if you want to. All bikers (and scooter riders) should remember that that expectation is for you to wear helmets and walk across crossings.
Here are some safety tips:
Walking to School:
· Walk on the sidewalks and use the crossings
· Make sure that you look both ways and do not walk in the street
· Respect the railroad lights
· Walk with at least one other person
· Report any suspicious activity to home or school
Biking to School:
· Wear a bike helmet
· Make sure that your bike is working properly including brakes and is the right size for you, the rider
· One person on the bike unless it is a bicycle made for two
· Follow the rules of the road
· Stay clear of buses and pedestrians
· Respect Railroad lights
· Bring a bike lock as we are not responsible for theft
Skateboarding/Scooters:
· Wear a helmet
· Follow the City ordinances
· Stay clear of buses, pedestrians and bikes
· Respect Railroad lights
· Follow the rules of the road
St. Albans City School values the safety of all students. They will be Safe, Achieving, and Caring no matter where they are within our community.

Parents of 8th Graders
On Thursday, May 14th, 2015, your eighth grader will be walking to BFA for Freshman Orientation. This is an annual event to introduce eighth graders to the expectations associated with their upcoming ninth grade year. This is always an exciting day. The students will receive a mock schedule. BFA staff and students will be on hand to guide the eighth grade students through the orientation program. Additionally, it is an opportunity to meet fellow eighth graders from the other sending schools.
On that day, lunch will be provided by BFA. Your eighth grader will be dismissed from BFA at 2:00 P.M. and will be walking home. If you choose to do so, you may pick your child up at BFA at that time. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to give us a call or contact our school counselor David Gale at galed@fcsuvt.org or 527-0565 ext 2306
