ELKS NATIONAL HOOP SHOOT: County Competition
On Saturday, December 8th six students from City School participated in the Elk's Hoop Shoot Competition at BFA. The Elk's Hoop Shoot is a free throw competition with ages ranging from 8-13. Our students participated against other students from Franklin County.

Overall our students represented City School very well.

Ethan, Rylea and Logan finished in 1st place (in their age division) and will be moving to the Northern Vermont regional finals in Newport, Vt in January.

Lauryn and Brady finished in 2nd place in their age division and will serve as alternates in the regional finals.

Thank you for participating.  You all did a great job!!

INVESTIGATORS BARKERY
Students and teachers on the Investigators teams spent a portion of another day baking special dog treats to be sold at the school mall.  They used natural vegetarian ingredients to create mini-muffins and dog bones. Tests on team member's pets proved that dogs were happy to eat them. The first half dozen pictures show the making of the muffins and the remaining pictures are of dog bone making.  12-11-2017

DAY OF CODE: UVM PRESENTATION OF ROBOTS
Presenters from UVM talked about their schooling and work experiences in technology.  They followed that introduction up with a demonstration of two computers connected to sensors. One allowed hand movements above the sensor to control a hand-built robot and the other let student draw on a computer screen with gestures of a wand. Coding was required to make both of these robotic systems function.

BACK IN TIME MACHINE - DAY OF CODE
Mrs. Wade, our librarian, assembled an array of obsolete technologies for kids to examine: dial-up phones, old computers, computer games, toys and audio equipment. It was about as much fun watching students try things out as it was for them to explore the equipment.
