SNACKS
CARROTS:
Just one medium carrot or a handful of baby carrots counts as one serving of your daily veggies.
Orange carrots are a great source of beta-carotene. Carrots contain a group of plant pigments called carotenoids, and beta-carotene is a member of this group.
Our bodies turn beta-carotene into vitamin A. Vitamin A is important for good health, especially for your eyes. Carrots are one of the best sources of vitamin A. Vitamin A is good for your bones, teeth, vision, and your skin.
Carrots are a good source of fiber, which is good for the health of your digestive system.

Parent Community Council Meeting
Thursday, December 7th. 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Location: Professional Library.
We had two parent groups last year, The Parent Community Council was started a little over 4 years ago and has remained strong for 4 years. A little over 2 years ago we started the Friends of St. Albans City School, as a way of getting more parents involved. FSACS meetings were widely advertised, but there was not a great deal of interest. They met monthly. Last year the Parent Community Council invited the officers of the Friends of St. Albans City School to join the PCC. This year we decided to combine the two into one organization and see how that works. We will meet three times a year (As the PCC has done) and invite new families to join. Our December meeting is focused on the Conscious Discipline feedback from our survey, and what the school might need to do to be supportive of the teams with the school-wide culminating event next week. If this sounds like something you are interested in, please RSVP to Joan Cavallo jcavallo@maplerun.org. PICTURES AND REPORTS
WALKING WEDNESDAY RESULTS
Seventy one students and fourteen adults walked into school on Wednesday morning. We are nearing the shortest day of the year so it was dark when most of the walking school buses started on their way. Way to go all walkers and bikers. Team Renaissance had the best turnout with 11 participants. Excellent job.
