BAND
Any beginning violins or cello's who were not at yesterdays rehearsal after school must see Mr. Mehaffey immediately this morning, so he knows to include you in the program for tonight's concert. Could ALL of the beginning violin's and cello's in 4th and 5th grade, please come to the band room at 8 am this morning for Mr. Mehaffey All string players in all grades, 4-8, should be in the library tonight at 6:30 for tuning. The Orchestra concert starts tonight at 7 pm, but remember, to be early, is to be on time! Sr. Band is rehearsing today at 2. Mr. Mehaffey will be pulling out some students for an extra lesson today, for the solo concert next week, and to go over any string solo's for tonight's concert, so the normal B schedule is not on for today. |

LUNCHTIME TASTE TEST
Rainbow colored carrots and buttermilk ranch dip were offered to students at Tuesday's lunch. The goal of this taste test, and others, was to expand children's food experiences. Many students gave the funny looking purple and yellow carrots and new dip a chance with mixed responses. Some loved the vegetables and dip, and others were pretty sure they would not like the sample only to have their fears realized. Quite a few students said they liked the carrots only, and others only the dip.
In the past, kale chips had a similarly mixed response. Now, when kale chips are served they are very popular, especially among those who had tried and tasted them previously.
INCREDIBLES ART
Students in Ms. Martinson's classroom proudly showed off their recently completed penguin art. After that, they continued working on a separate piece of art. Photos were taken on January 23rd, 2018. LINK TO 23 PHOTOGRAPHS

BIRD DIVA BRIGIT BUTLER VISITED KINDERGARTEN
Local bird expert, Brigit Butler, came by kindergarten to teach students about owls and the sounds they make. She played recordings of different species of owls and had students imitate them. Students did an amazing job of listening, participating and staying focused. The pictures are of Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Walsh's students.
In the following video students mimic owl calls: LINK TO 5 MINUTE LONG VIDEO The video will likely only be of interest to Dreamers kindergarten families. Too long otherwise.
