FAMILIES OF 4TH GRADERS
On Friday, February 22nd, 4th grade will take the NAEP assessment. The links below will take you to letters that explain the expectations for that measurement.
What is NAEP?
It is a Common Measure of Student Achievement The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) is the only assessment that measures what U.S. students know and can do in various subjects across the nation, states, and in some urban districts. Also known as The Nation’s Report Card, NAEP has provided important information about how students are performing academically since 1969. |
STILL EXCELLING AT ARCHERY St. Albans City School student, Isaac Sullivan, continues to compete in archery events around the country with great success. In the event pictured below, he placed third out of 264 people. For those who understand archery scoring methods, Isaac shot a 300/300 26/30 xs and then a 298. VOYAGERS READ-ALOUD SESSION Ms. Bashaw read "A Long Walk to Water" to her students on Wednesday morning. The book gave her students a chance to immerse themselves in the lives of two Sudanese children, one from 1985 and the other from 2008. The two people's lives intersect in an astonishing and moving way. 2-20-2019. 5/6 BOYS BASKETBALL The Navy and White boys basketball players received medals for an accomplished season on Wednesday afternoon. LINK TO 8 PICTURES. VOYAGERS AND iREADY Twice a week students in Ms. Chisholm's classroom use i-Ready software to provide individualized instruction in math and reading that is relevant to the capabilities of each student. The software is designed to get students excited about learning and gives teachers like Ms. Chisholm a chance to work in a more tailored way with each student. 2-20-2019. LINK TO 9 PICTURES INCREDIBLES READ-ALOUD SESSION Ms. Coutts circled students on the carpet at the front of the classroom to listen to a book. In an age where screens and mobile devices dominate our attention, there is still student readiness to absorb an interesting book. Students use their minds to follow the stories and create the mental images the reading invokes. An extra benefit is the shared bonding experience of listening to a powerful book at the same time. 2-20-2019 |
