THE ST. ALBANS CITY SCHOOL 50TH CELEBRATION CONTINUES INTO 2020
Over the next several weeks, the daily announcements will include pictures from 1970 and a similar picture that was taken 50 years later in 2020. These pictures are also posted on the wall outside the big gym. Can you see anything that is the same 50 years later?

TRAVELERS MAKING BASKETS
The Travelers applied for grant funding to bring an Abenaki basket maker to their learning community. Mr. Jesse LeRoque spent last Friday, 1-10-2020, in the three Travelers classrooms explaining and demonstrating how he uses strips of ash to weave beautiful baskets. The first and second graders had a discussion about Vermont first nation's history and they received show-and-tell lessons about Abenaki culture and crafts. Some of the students had a chance to weave small baskets out of paper, something that proved way harder to accomplish than it looked. Mr. LeRoque's visit was a part of the districts effort to provide learning about diversity and equity. LINK TO 35 PICTURES from Ms. Mangis' classroomLINK TO 81 PICTURES from Mr. Pac's classroom.
