WALKING WEDNESDAY RESULTS
Winter is always a challenging time to hold Walking Wednesdays. This February's Walking Wednesday was definitely problematic for many regular participants due to the fresh snow hiding icy patches on sidewalks. Surprisingly, at least 73 people braved the conditions and came to school. Triumph, once again, had the highest participation rate. Impressive.

Members of the Army National Guard are joining us on some of our walking routes to school. On Wednesday, four soldiers spread out around the city to support our February walk. Thank you.  Expect to see them in upcoming scheduled walks.

TWINS AND TRIPLETS

Join us in making February our Kindness Month.  Help make our school
kind. It's our chance to have fun and be a little kinder.  Each day is
another act of kindness you can do. Let's work together to make
each day a little happier for everyone.  Share your classroom kindness
in the announcements if you can. The Calendar is posted on the wall in
the hall outside Ms Stacie’s office.

HEALTHY HEARTS FAIR AT CITY SCHOOL

Local medical specialists come to our school to put on an amazing health and wellness fair on Saturday, February 15th. It is a great opportunity for families, and any community members, to come and spend a morning having fun in the big gym, trying out healthy foods and learning lots about wellness in general. There are plenty of games and great displays and lots of knowledgeable people to talk with. The kids who have attended in recent years have had a super time at the fair.

WEATHER

The snow tubes will not be put out until we get a significant amount of snow. The sledding hill is hard ice beneath an inch of snow. Not safe.

LOCAL BEEF MONTH
Local beef will be served twice per week during February. Check out this LINK TO A 3.5 MINUTE VIDEO about where our beef comes from. We visited the Choiniere family farm in 2016 and filmed their healthy dairy and beef cows.

This month we have an all-new Vermont Harvest of the Month crop...beef! All beef products come from different parts of a cow, and it is a great source of high-quality protein and nutrients, particularly iron. Cows are native to India but spread to China, Africa, and Europe where they were then brought to America by European explorers in 1493. Now, cows can be found all over the globe in many different types of cuisine. The United States produces about 20% of the world's beef making them the largest producer in the world followed by Brazil, Europe, and China. Check out this story about the rising success of beef production right here in Vermont.
