Announcements 3-30-2020

MONDAY, MARCH 30th

PRINCIPAL AND ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear St. Albans City School Families,

Like many of you, we heard the news last night that in-person instruction has been cancelled for the remainder of this school year. Also, like many of you, we are sad. So we will not be returning to the school building as a community this year. In this time of uncertainty, it is natural to feel sad and anxious about these changes and loss of connection.

While we do not have answers to exactly what our new learning environment will look like, this year is not over yet. We will stay in contact. We will continue to learn together as a community. Parents, we are not expecting you to be teachers, and we know that supporting you and your children with this new structure will take changes and new structures for all of us. We have been working on it behind the scenes this past week, and we will continue to do that over the next two weeks.

Our meal delivery will continue throughout the time the school building is closed. By now I hope you have heard that we are changing our delivery to twice a week, with three days of breakfast and lunch in each delivery. Buses leave at 10:30 Monday and Thursday to deliver to bus stops. We also have a pickup at the gym entrance to our building that is open 11-12:30. All children 18 and under are welcome to access this service, just call Jenn Seymour to get on the list, 802-527-0565.

COVID-19 will eventually have less of an impact. We will eventually be back in one building together. By then we will all be great at washing our hands, coughing into our elbow and honoring personal space.

While we don’t have detailed information about the plan for continuing learning now, we do know that if you need us we are here, and will continue to be here. While our students, staff and families are not in our halls, you are all in our hearts.

Take care of yourselves and each other,

Joan and Stacie
