PICTURES IMAGINATION 1ST GRADE RAINFOREST PROJECT - BACHAND The excitement and pride in their learning were evident late Monday morning when the principal and assistant principal came by to see the students’ work. Ms. Bachand had helped students learn about tropical rainforests and the animal and plant life forms that inhabit them. Students had made rainforest exploration outfits that they put on and binoculars they had used to look for wildlife. They had also written stories about their learning that they shared parts of from the front of the classroom with each other and the guests. Link to 50 Pictures. TRAVELERS WRITING SESSION - PAC Students were doing their own writing in addition to reviewing a writing sample for errors. 4-13-2021. Link to 15 Pictures. NAVIGATORS PLANTING RAINBOW - LAIDMAN We worked on making community paintings for a “planting a rainbow” project inspired by the book by Lois Elhert. 4-13-2021 “In this perennial classic by Caldecott Honor–winning author Lois Ehlert, little ones learn the colors of the rainbow as they watch a plants grow in a beautifully vibrant garden. Through brilliant, textured cut paper collages, the story follows the progress of a mother and daughter in their backyard as they plant bulbs, seeds, and seedlings and nurture their growth into flowers. Bold, spare text and dazzling illustrations will inspire readers to take a closer look at the natural world and maybe even start a garden of their own.” Source for this content came from this link. TWIN TEACHERS ON SPORTS DAY IN VOYAGERS ONE SAMPLE OF SIDEWALK ART PICTURE FROM ROUTE TO SCHOOL This came from the overgrown space next to the creamery and railroad yard off Aldis Street. 4-14-2021 |
TRAVEL GUIDANCE As part of Vermont's phased reopening plan, there is new travel guidance, effective April 9, 2021. CDC recommends delaying travel until you are fully vaccinated because travel increases your chance of getting and spreading COVID-19. TESTING UPON RETURNUnvaccinated Vermonters who have traveled outside the state must be tested within 3 days of returning to Vermont.
Vaccinated Vermonters do not need to get tested or quarantine. People who had COVID-19 within the last 3 months and have recovered do not need to test or quarantine unless they develop new symptoms. Rules for Vermonters who have traveled to other countries are different. Learn more. EARTH DAY CHALLENGE MESSAGE
Wondering what Earth Day is and how it got started? Earth Day is an annual event celebrated around the world on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970, and now includes events in more than 193 countries. Because Earth day takes place when we are on Break, Triumph, Voyagers, Discovery would like to celebrate Earth Day next week from April 12th-15th. We want to recognize and do some educational activities this coming week and we would like to send a challenge to the rest of the school.
The Challenge: What can you do to make SACS more beautiful? Can you write a beautiful poem about the Earth? Could you pick up litter? Could you make an art project out of recycled materials? Etc... Share your work with Mr. Craib (mcraib@maplerun.org) and we'll do the same.
