BICYCLE INSTRUCTION - JARVIS

Every year in May or June, St. Albans receives the loan of a bicycle-filled trailer from the Vermont organization called Local Motion. The purpose of the trailer’s visit is to supplement the school’s cache of bicycles that are used to help students learn how to ride and travel safely. Often the bicycles on this trailer also make our annual 6th-grade bike trip on the rail trail possible. This year a covid-safe way of offering that bike trip is being planned for early June.  Link to 12 Pictures from the first day of bicycle practice this spring. Incredibles and Discovery students were photographed riding around the bus loop.

NAVIGATORS VEGETABLE SOUP - LAIDMAN

Ms. Laidman’s class made a vegetable soup to go with their book study of growing vegetable soup.  They even wrote their own recipe. Link to 9 Pictures.  Note: Any pictures of unmasked children were collected at lunchtime as they were tasting their soup while remaining properly socially distant.

THE RENAISSANCE SCHOOL OF COSMETOLOGY WAS OPEN AGAIN ON MONDAY

Renaissance students have now moved on from cream pie facials to the styling of hair. In return for perfect remote learning attendance and for completing all remote work, three students earned the opportunity to gain hairstyling skills while practicing on one of their teachers. Mr. Lovelette was thrilled to have his hair cut and shaped by these dedicated and talented individuals. Link to 23 Pictures. 5-10-2021.

Link to 11 more pictures taken by Mr. Jetter. 5-10-2021

EXPLORERS CARTWHEEL - FENTON
It is good to see that skills gained in the early years of life remain when one becomes a teacher. Watch Ms. Fenton perform a cartwheel. Link to 6-second video. Video submitted by Mr. Brown.

NAVIGATORS STEAM CLASS CHICKENS - LAIDMAN

A few days ago Ms. Darcie Rankin was shown walking through the hallways in her full-body chicken outfit. One of the classroom groups she sees regularly shared these pictures of her in the chicken outfit working with the kids. Ms. Darcie read them a chicken story and then had them make paper plate chickens.  Thank you Ms. Asato-Ditch for the photos. 5-7-2021.  Link to 12 Pictures.
