PICTURES

DREAMERS - DUPONT

Ms. Dupont’s kindergarten students enjoyed some free-choice playtime around the classroom often with one or two peers. Towards the end of the picture album linked here, three of the students are shown playing a unique egg-related board game. It is being used to heighten awareness of the embryology project that all kindergarteners are involved in.  Link to 31 Pictures.

EMBRYOLOGY PROJECT

In recent years, each kindergarten received a batch of chicken or duck eggs to incubate and hatch. The embryology project will once again be a part of the kindergarten curriculum.

Chicken eggs take 21 days to hatch once incubation begins. Duck eggs hatch in 28 to 35 days. When you read this blurb, the hatching calendar countdown will be at 3 days. Special incubators keep the eggs between 98 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit. It is also necessary to control humidity carefully during the incubation process and the optimal amount of humidity changes over time.

While the children are waiting for the hatching process to begin, they are learning about the biology of eggs and chicks. A wonderful thing about this project is that it gives these young students reason to develop and practice their writing math skills as they document their eggs incubation, hatching, and chick & duckling care process.

One child explained her chicken journal and showed the entry she made on Thursday, May 6th.

IMAGINATION - WIGHT

Ms. Koldys’ students enjoyed a vigorous set of rollerboard basketbal gamesl in two little courts Ms. Wight set up in the little gym. 5-6-2021.

OUTDOOR ART - COSTANTINO

Mr. Costantino took Ms. Johnson’s students outside so they could use landscape images, buildings, and plants to inspire their drawing. 5-6-2021
