6TH & 7TH GRADE BIKE TRIP(S)

For many years now, it has been a tradition that all the sixth graders have the opportunity to take a biking field trip and picnic on the rail trail. In the past, those sixth graders loved having the chance to ride and socialize with peers from other 4-6 learning communities. Last year the bike trip was canceled due to covid. This year our school is again offering the bike trip event but with each 4-6 learning community having a separate day for their event. Triumph was the first team to go. The others follow in the next few school days. In addition, and to make up for the sixth graders missing last year's trip, the now 7th graders are going to have their own day and opportunity to do bike the rail trail.

TRIUMPH 6TH GRADE BIKE TRIP 6-3-2021

Rain was a real threat to the trip and indeed it did rain lightly. The Triumph team was not deterred. They set off and made it to the picnic area (The Casino) in an hour. After an hour and a half of play and lunch, most rode back to school. Since there was definitely rain on the return, most of the riders had a nice spray of mud droplets up their backs. The one benefit to the moist and overcast day was that temperatures were perfect. No one overheated or got too cold. A lot of fun was had by all present on the bike trip.  Link to 70 Pictures.

CARE PACKAGES TO SOLDIERS FROM ST. ALBANS CITY SCHOOL

There are currently over 1,000 Vermont Army and Air Guard soldiers deployed around the world, performing various missions from Africa to Europe.  Please help us in showing them support by giving a little hello from home by adding some items for care packages we will be sending in the next couple of weeks.

THE LAST DAY OF COLLECTION IS WEDNESDAY, JUNE 9TH.

Bins are located at the front of the school and will be collected by Team USA daily.  Below are some of the items that soldiers have mentioned would be greatly appreciated:

  • Snacks (Granola, Beef Jerky, Trail Mix)

  • Baby Wipes

  • Foot Powder

  • Propel and Other Powdered Drink Mix

  • Toothbrushes, Toothpaste

  • Lip Balm & Chapstick

  • Candy (M&M’s, Skittles, Etc.)

  • Sunscreen

  • Hot Sauces

  • Crossword Puzzles & Word Games

  • Coloring Books and Crayons (Yes, you read that right)

  • Books

Sometimes, a kind word of support and appreciation, a poem, or even a sketch or drawing mean just as much to a soldier far from home.  We will also be collecting letters -- both to service members or their families – to show support and let them know we are thinking about them in these trying times.

For the younger kids – soldiers love pictures and drawings – so please take a couple minutes to brighten the day for someone who is far from home.

This will be an ongoing project so please keep the items and letters coming early and often.  Any questions can be sent to Team USA

Thank You
