PICTURES CINNAMON ROLLS Wendy Morgan and other kitchen staff in the cafeteria made delicious cinnamon rolls for everyone on Wednesday, December 22nd, the last school day before winter break. They were delivered around the school at breakfast time. Link to 17 Pictures. To thank the Abbey Group staff, children from Prek-Kindergarten made thank you posters that they paraded through the passages of the cafeteria. This parade was especially meaningful to the staff who work on the school’s food since they have no opportunity to see students daily as they did in the past. Connecting with students is one of the main reasons why many of the kitchen staff work at our school. Link to 1-minute video of the thank you parade. CODING DANCE PARTY As the school day came to a close on December 22nd, DJ Borst led an online dance party that capped off the School’s month of code learning experiences. Individual students and classroom groups had used a coding program to create dance moves to go along with popular songs. Their dances were recorded and submitted to DJ Borst who strung them together in a 15-minute long video. At a specified time, all the contributing classroom groups gathered online for a viewing of that video so that students could see each other’s work and try out various dance moves. It was great fun. Link to 2-minute video sample showing the dance party. INVESTIGATORS 1ST GRADE SNOW TUBING - TANEY Sledding conditions were good for the 1st graders on the last day of school before the winter break. LETTER FROM THE MAPLE RUN SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS December 31st, 2021 Dear Maple Run Community, I hope everyone has had a restful break and has had a chance to recharge themselves. I am excited to see all of our students safely back at school. The best way we can keep our community safe and lower our exposure to the COVID-19 virus is to stay home when we test positive or are a close contact. Today the State of Vermont has officially changed its guidance for individuals who test positive for COVID-19 and for individuals who are close contacts to individual(s) infected with COVID-19. The updated Maple Run Unified School District quarantining procedures will be as follows:
For those individuals who test positive (PCR, LAMP, OR ANTIGEN test) regardless of vaccination status:
Then you can return to school and must wear a mask around others through day 10. If possible, we recommended that you have two negative antigen tests performed at least 24 hours apart beginning no earlier than day 4. Also please Notify your close contacts that you have tested positive.
Close Contacts For those who have been determined to be a close contact and have had a booster shot or completed the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine series within the last 6 months or completed the Johnson & Johnson vaccine within the last 2 months, the following safety procedures apply:
For those who have been determined to be close contact and are not vaccinated or completed the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine series more than 6 months ago and have not had a booster shot or completed the Johnson & Johnson vaccine series more than 2 months ago and have not had a booster shot, then:
Please help us meet our goal of keeping our community safe by following the guidelines around staying home when sick, quarantining or participating in Test-to-Stay, and keeping gatherings small. We want to keep the schools open. Thank you for your support through this extremely tough time. Sincerely, Bill Kimball Superintendent of Schools A copy of this letter can be at maplerun.org |
