NAVIGATORS PREK/K P.E. WITH MS. JARVIS - EMMONS

Here are pictures of Ms. Emmons’ students making snowpeople in Ms. Jarvis’ PE class Wednesday 1-5-2021.  The lesson used elements of collaboration, design, and construction along with movement. They talked about the word engineering and how all the students were going to be engineers that day.  Running was incorporated in the overall lesson when students (one at a time) went and got one piece of the snowperson at the other end of the gym and brought it back, placing that piece to match where it is on the final design on the paper.  Then the next person from each group went and got another piece until each group's snowperson was completed.

When the snowman construction process was done, students pretended that it was Spring and the snowperson was melting. They then deconstructed the snowperson using the same process (one person at a time from two teams running pieces across the gym). It was a construction or deconstruction relay race between the two groups.

The students finished the class with a read-aloud of the story "What Does It Mean To Be Present?"

DISCOVERY SKI TRIP TO JAY PEAK

This past cold Tuesday, Team Discovery and Team Incredibles traveled to Jay Peak for a day of skiing. Here are 14 pictures from Discovery from that trip.  Here are 5 Pictures from Incredibles.

TEAM USA SCIENCE WITH MR. ROULEAU

The lesson started with the topic of humidity. It diverged into a discussion on perspective and how where people come from might influence how they view all kinds of things. Mr. Rouleau presented commonly used maps as an example. Most maps are drawn by people living in the Northern Hemisphere. That fact affected the position and significance of continents on their maps. There was also a discussion of how people from other countries are as human as we are while likely seeing world events differently than we do. Link to 10 Pictures.   1-5-2022
