PICTURES NAVIGATORS’ SID McSIT WAS MOVED TO LIBRARY Ms. Lawyer’s students used one of the load carrying trolleys to move their completed recycle person, Mr. Sid McSit, to the library for display. Once there, they had a nice session picking out books to read and having a few read to them. 2-15-2022 DREAMERS (DEDELL) DRAWINGS A substantial amount of student work is displayed in Ms. DeDell’s room. Here is one set of their drawings. Link to 11 Images ADVENTURERS PE CLASS WITH MS. WIGHT - FARRELL For one portion of the class, students followed a delightful yoga and movement instruction video. It was marvelous seeing all the student so uninhibited and happy moving as suggested. Part of the appeal of the instruction was the imaginative story told by the instructor and how really well the students could picture themselves being a part of the story. The video clip is over 10 minutes long and likely primarily relevant to family members of the students involved. Link to Video DREAMERS START OF THE DAY - DEDELL Here is a 2-minute video showing some of the morning activities conducted in Ms. DeDell’s classroom: Dancing, singing, wishing well, more dancing and singing… Link to video. RAIDERS ACTS OF KINDNESS CAMPAIGN If you see any Kindness posters around the halls please take a tab and do what it says so we can spread Acts of Kindness around the school. This is for National Kindness Day on Feb 17, 2022. This will last until Friday, February 18, at 12:00 pm. This is a test to see how many Acts of Kindness occur at SACS. We ask if you complete or witness an Act of Kindness then fill out one of the Kindness tickets and drop it off at the library. Tickets can be found in the library. There will be a random drawing for a prize to be determined (possibly popcorn, ice cream, etc) We hope to see an increase in Kindness and maybe help us plan for another Acts of Kindness week in the future. |

BLACK HISTORY MONTH The story of one of the most influential civil rights activist of our time. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was only 25 when he helped organize the Montgomery Bus Boycott and was soon organizing black people across the country in support of the right to vote, desegregation, and other basic civil rights. Maintaining nonviolent and peaceful tactics even when his life was threatened, King was also an advocate for the poor and spoke out against racial and economic injustice until his death—from an assassin's bullet—in 1968. With clearly written text that explains this tumultuous time in history and 80 black-and-white illustrations, this Who Was? celebrates the vision and the legacy of a remarkable man. A tender and powerful affirmation that Black lives have always mattered. Black lives matter. That message would be self-evident in a just world, but in this world and this America, all children need to hear it again and again, and not just to hear it but to feel and know it. Have I Ever Told You Black Lives Matter? is a book for this time and always. Ashley Bennett and her friends are living the charmed life. It’s the end of senior year, and they’re spending more time at the beach than in the classroom. They can already feel the sunny days and endless possibilities of summer. Everything changes one afternoon in April, when four LAPD officers are acquitted after beating a Black man named Rodney King half to death. Suddenly, Ashley’s not just one of the girls. She’s one of the Black kids. With her world splintering around her, Ashley, along with the rest of LA, is left to question who is the us? And who is the them? |
