DREAMERS RELEASING DINOSAURS - DUPONT

On Friday we hatched dinosaurs in the classroom! The students had to work hard to get the dinosaur out of the egg. Overall students worked for 45 minutes to get their dinosaur free! It was a lot of fun. 1-21-2022. Link to 62 Pictures.

TEAM USA MOCK TRIALS - VAUGHN

After the students read The Monkey’s Paw by W.W. Jacobs, they took part in mock trials set up by Ms. Vaughn. According to the American Literature website, “The Monkey's Paw is a classic "three wishes" story that doubles as a horror story and a cautionary tale; reminding us that unintended consequences often accompany the best intentions.”

Students had to prosecute or defend a case against one of the characters in The Monkey's Paw story and do so in front of the classroom. There was a judge (Ms. Vaughn) a jury, and prosecution and defense groups (all fellow students). With this project students looked closely at a piece of classic literature and came to understand better how jury trials are configured. The photos are from day one of the trials. Final arguments will be made in the coming days and the juries will have to come up with verdicts.

EXCEPTIONAL PICTURES BOOKS IN OUR LIBRARY

The Red Clover book awards are a list of exceptional picture books created by librarians around the state since 1997.  Each of these texts are in our school library and here you will find resources that go with each book.

Obie knew his transition would have ripple effects. He has to leave his swim coach, his pool, and his best friends. But it’s time for Obie to find where he truly belongs.

As Obie dives into a new team, though, things are strange. Obie always felt at home in the water, but now he can’t get his old coach out of his head. Even worse are the bullies that wait in the locker room and on the pool deck. Luckily, Obie has family behind him. And maybe some new friends too, including Charlie, his first crush. Obie is ready to prove he can be one of the fastest boys in the water—to his coach, his critics, and his biggest competition: himself.

In 1910, Captain Robert Scott prepared his crew for a trip that no one had ever completed: a journey to the South Pole. He vowed to get there any way he could, even if it meant looking death in the eye. Then, not long before he set out, another intrepid explorer, Roald Amundsen, set his sights on the same goal. Suddenly two teams were vying to be the first to make history―what was to be an expedition had become a perilous race.

In 2018, Captain Louis Rudd readied himself for a similarly grueling task: the first unaided, unsupported solo crossing of treacherous Antarctica. But little did he know that athlete Colin O’Brady was training for the same trek―and he was determined to beat Louis to the finish line. For fans of Michael Tougias’ The Finest Hours, this gripping account of two history-making moments of exploration and competition is perfect for budding scientists, survivalists, and thrill seekers.
