PICTURES DISCOVERY 4TH GRADE GUEST READER, DR. BELLSTROM - MURPHY Beloved local children’s doctor, Laura Bellstrom, stopped by Ms. Murphy’s room early on Friday morning to read students two books. 3-31-2023. Dr. Bellstrom brought mini-blueberry muffins and cups of milk for students to consume while being read to. Before launching into reading, she participated in the classroom’s well wishes for absent students and the pledge of the allegiance. She also asked each student their name and what they liked to read about. The two picture books Dr. Bellstrom read were “Mama don’t allow” and “Creepy Pair of Underpants”. Both stories proved to be funny and of great interest to the students and adults present. Link to 23 Pictures. KINDNESS BOOK READ-ALOUD AND DISCUSSION - DUPONT Mrs. Dupont volunteered, and was chosen as Vermont's 2023 teacher to represent Hugs Across America on Thursday March 30th. She read a book she received to her class "If you give a kid some kindness" by Aubrianne N. Buckley - Mrs. Dupont lit up her classroom by reading this book and having a discussion around Kindness. The main goal was to have the book read on Thursday March 30th across the entire US! The handwritten message inside of Ms. Dupont's book was: Share your spark! Information about Annie's Kindness Blankets can be found at this link ADVENTURERS GUEST READER, RICHARD BARRATT - FARRELL Ms. Farrell’s kindergarten students had the honor of being read to by one of our well-known facilities caretakers, Richard Barratt. 3-30-2023 NAVIGATORS ECHO LEARNING CENTER VISIT AND ECHO CLASSROOM VISIT - EMMONS Mrs. Emmons' Navigator classroom has recently been part of a trip to the ECHO, Leahy Center for Lake Champlain. Before we went we learned all about Lake Champlain and we spent a whole morning learning about CHAMP. We made art around CHAMP and binoculars to see him better. The kids were very excited for the field trip not only to explore ECHO and the Curious George exhibit but with hopes to see CHAMP. We went on a day of a snowstorm so no CHAMP spotting unfortunately. We had a great time still. This week Liz, from their outreach program, came and taught our children a lesson around Launch, Fling and Fly. This was a lesson around the monarch butterflies. After the children became engineers and practiced launching a butterfly using a variety of materials. It was awesome to see how much collaboration, flexibility and brainstorming that happen within the groups. The set of ECHO experiences were amazing and we are very thankful we got to have them.
