PICTURES & NEWS Every year just before school lets out for the summer St. Albans City School puts on a celebration called Stewardship Day. Learning communities showcase their stewardship projects, fun activities are organized, a meal is served of locally produced food items and a whole-school picture is taken. It is a day of joy, regardless of the weather. This year's Stewardship Day held on Wednesday, June 7th was no different. It went well in spite of grey skies and a bit of moisture. Photos from Stewardship day will be added to the announcements in the coming days as they are processed. Thank you for your patience. WHOLE SCHOOL PICTURE It has been four years since our last group picture. Covid accounted for two of those missing years and last year it rained and we were not able to assemble outside as we need to do. Here are two versions of this year's whole-school picture. A slightly higher resolution image. STEWARDSHIP WALKING WEDNESDAY The threat of rain and the cooler temperatures had an influence over turnout. Nevertheless, a strong number of students and adults showed up to walk or bike into school on Stewardship Day. There were 126 students and 17 adults who participated (143 Total). Team Discovery led the way. Thank you to everyone who joined in and helped out. Link to 31 Pictures. |

LIBRARY
June is LGBTQIA+ Pride Month. During this month-long celebration we recognize the resilience and determination of the many individuals who fight to live freely and authentically. In doing so, we are opening hearts and minds, and laying the foundation for a more just and equitable America. Please check out these books in our library today to learn more about people and characters that represent our diverse community! It's fall break in the supernatural town of North Haven, and young witch Abby's plans include pitching in at her mom's magical coffee shop, practicing her potion making, and playing board games with her best friends--a pumpkinhead, a wolf-girl, and a ghost. But when Abby finds her younger sister being picked on by some speed demons, she lets out a burst of magic so strong, it opens a portal to a realm of chaos bunnies. And while these bunnies may look cute, they're about to bring the a-hop-ocalypse (and get Abby in a cauldronful of trouble) unless she figures out a way to reverse the powerful magic she unwittingly released. What's a witch to do? A month before the end of the school year, Pluto's frightened mom broke down Pluto's bedroom door. What came next were doctor's appointments, a diagnosis of depression, and a big black hole that still sits on Pluto's chest, making it too hard to do anything. Pluto can't explain to her mom why she can't do the things she used to love. And it isn't until Pluto's dad threatens to make her move with him to the city--where he believes his money, in particular, could help--that Pluto becomes desperate enough to do whatever it takes to be the old Pluto again. She develops a plan and a checklist: If she does all the things that "normal" Pluto would do, she can stay with her mom in Jersey. But it takes a new therapist, a new tutor, and a new (and cute) friend with a checklist and plan of her own for Pluto to learn that there is no old and new Pluto. There's just her. |
