SAYING GOODBYE FOR THE 2022/2023 SCHOOL YEAR
For some of the students, Thursday, June 15th was the last day of school. Teachers came out and wished the students well for the summer. For other students, those transitioning to a different learning community, Friday is the last day. Those students come in for a few hours on step-up-day. Link to 16 Pictures.

8TH GRADE GRADUATION PRACTICE
The 8th graders spent several hours practicing their graduation procedures in the large gym. 6-15-2023. The session ended with the students receiving and signing their yearbooks. After a quick lunch, those students departed for home to prepare for the actual evening graduation ceremony. Link to 25 Pictures of yearbook signing.  Graduation Pictures may take a few days to process before being posted.

MS. LAWYER'S IN-SCHOOL APPRECIATION EVENT
Ms. Lawyer is retiring after 45 years of teaching in the very same kindergarten classroom since 1978. She has been a huge part of the school for decades. The mayor spoke at the event where he declared it Sally Lawyer day in St. Albans and he gave her a key to the city. Members of the 8th grade band played a funky and enthusiastic tune that members of the audience ended up dancing to. Ms. Rouleau gave Ms. Lawyer a special banner and a hand crafted celebration hat.

DISCOVERY FIELD TRIP AT THE BAY PARK
Despite a dreary morning w/ some absolute downpours, Team Discovery still had a blast on their end-of-year field trip @ St. Albans Bay Park.  Link to 34 Pictures.

USA FLAG RETIREMENT CEREMONY
On Flag Day, June 14th, Team USA students worked with the local VFW and American Legion to host a Flag Retirement Ceremony at Mount Calvary Cemetery.  Prior to the ceremony students gathered flags from local cemeteries and collections from around the community.  They prepared the flags for the ceremony with the help of several other learning communities within St. Albans City School.  Thank you to the communities that helped or attended the ceremony.

RENAISSANCE
On the last day of school for 8th graders, their learning communities find ways of celebrating various achievements. In this picture you will see students who were recognized for demonstrating a noteworthy transferable skill. 6-15-2023

INFORMATION ABOUT TEMPORARY SUMMER FOOD BENEFITS

FOR ALL STUDENTS

All students at our school will be receiving the Summer P-EBT benefit of $120 which can be spent on food at the grocery store, farmers markets, and some convenience stores and online retailers.

  • If your family has previously received a P-EBT benefit or receives 3SquaresVT, the summer benefit will be added to your existing card in late July or early August. If you have lost or thrown away your card, please call 1‐800‐479‐6151, option 7 for a replacement card.

  • If you have never received a P-EBT benefit for any children in your household, you will be mailed a new card in late July or early August. You will be mailed instructions for activating the new card in a separate letter. These instructions include a 9-digit number that you will need to use instead of your social security number when you activate the card or when you call the call center. It is not a real social security number. To activate the card, enter the last four digits of the number in the letter when you are asked for the last four digits of your social security number. You will also need to enter the date of birth of your oldest child listed in the letter using 8 digits in a MM/DD/YYYY format. Please look for the letter in the mail and do not throw it away. Both the card and the letter will be mailed by the Vermont Department of Children and Families.

If your address changes over the summer, please call 1‐800‐479‐6151, option 7 to update your address.

All students at our school are entitled to receive this benefit. If you do not wish to use your benefit to buy food for your own family, we encourage you to use it to buy food for a local food pantry. Benefits that are not used will be sent back to the federal government. You may not give your card to anyone else, but you may buy food for others with the card.

If you have more questions about P-EBT, please visit the P-EBT website.
