PICTURES SAYING GOODBYE FOR THE 2022/2023 SCHOOL YEAR For some of the students, Thursday, June 15th was the last day of school. Teachers came out and wished the students well for the summer. For other students, those transitioning to a different learning community, Friday is the last day. Those students come in for a few hours on step-up-day. Link to 16 Pictures. 8TH GRADE GRADUATION PRACTICE The 8th graders spent several hours practicing their graduation procedures in the large gym. 6-15-2023. The session ended with the students receiving and signing their yearbooks. After a quick lunch, those students departed for home to prepare for the actual evening graduation ceremony. LAWYER'S IN-SCHOOL APPRECIATION EVENT Ms. Lawyer is retiring after 45 years of teaching in the very same kindergarten classroom since 1978. She has been a huge part of the school for decades. The mayor spoke at the event where he declared it Sally Lawyer day in St. Albans and he gave her a key to the city. Members of the 8th grade band played a funky and enthusiastic tune that members of the audience ended up dancing to. Ms. Rouleau gave Ms. Lawyer a special banner and a hand crafted celebration hat. Link to Jazz Peformance Video Link to 8 Pictures DISCOVERY FIELD TRIP AT THE BAY PARK Despite a dreary morning w/ some absolute downpours, Team Discovery still had a blast on their end-of-year field trip @ St. Albans Bay Park. Link to 34 Pictures. USA FLAG RETIREMENT CEREMONY On Flag Day, June 14th, Team USA students worked with the local VFW and American Legion to host a Flag Retirement Ceremony at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Prior to the ceremony students gathered flags from local cemeteries and collections from around the community. They prepared the flags for the ceremony with the help of several other learning communities within St. Albans City School. Thank you to the communities that helped or attended the ceremony. 2023 Flag Retirement Ceremony - 19 minutes RENAISSANCE On the last day of school for 8th graders, their learning communities find ways of celebrating various achievements. INFORMATION ABOUT TEMPORARY SUMMER FOOD BENEFITS FOR ALL STUDENTS All students at our school will be receiving the Summer P-EBT benefit of $120 which can be spent on food at the grocery store, farmers markets, and some convenience stores and online retailers.
