NEWS AND PICTURES

FIRE ALARM
A fire alarm went off late morning on the final day of camp (8-3-2023). All campers and adults filed out to the end of the building they were closest to in a quiet and orderly fashion. Everyone waited patiently until the all-clear was given. Smoke from a cooking project had briefly set off the alarm. There was no fire. Everyone was soon back at their normal end-of-camp day schedules.

CALVES VISITED THE FARM CAMP

Ms. Montagne managed a farm-focused camp for PreK and Kindergarteners. For the culminating event of the camp, she invited local farmer, Jenny Howrigan to bring two of her Holstein calves up for all the SACS campers to meet and pet. Her farm is called Nelson Dairies West. Campers took turns bottle-feeding the young bovines. It was also fun watching her very young son, Holland Howrigan, lead around one of the calves. JAZZ BAND CAMP CONCERT (8-3-2023)
The performers, their leader, Mr. Kelly, and an audience of families and friends met for an end-of-camp concert at St. Albans Bay Park. The St. Albans public was welcome to attend. In spite of very windy and cool conditions, the band kept their composure under a large flapping tent and played admirably. There were five pieces presented with numerous opportunities for solos from all the musicians. Many proud family members and teachers in the audience clapped and whistled as each piece or solo ended.

The conditions were good for still pictures of the musicians. There are two sets.

The conditions were terrible for video sound quality. Nevertheless, for those interested, the video of the concert can be viewed through this link.

VARIETY CAMP
Ms. Trudy's camp has had an ocean focus for all of their craft work. When campers completed different craft pieces they were pasted up outside of their classroom space. To celebrate their completed work, the group met in the hallway next to their display. 8-3-2023
