Announcements 1-29-13

Unified Arts Night Tonight! (Tuesday 1/29)

Unified Arts Night Schedule

Astronomy - Cafeteria / Band Room

City School All Star Jazz Band will perform some astronomically cool
music at 6:00. After the concert, Mr. M will be setting up a tele-
scope display outside by the basketball courts, so dress warmly. If
the clouds are out, the telescopes and some interesting accessories
will be in the band room on display. (Mr. Mehaffey being one of the
interesting accessories). The telescopes will be set up during the UA
night regardless of the weather.

Drama - Cafeteria - 5:10-5:30

Students from the Drama Club will perform selections from
the up-coming musical "Beauty and the Beast".

Library - 5-5:45

The Learning Commons will showcase some of our favorite
science videos. There will be a display of science materials
and resources available through the Learning Commons and
the State of Vermont.

Tech Ed -Tech Ed Room –5-5:45

Come explore the world of STEM (Science, Technology,
Engineering and Math) in the Tech Ed Room. You will
have an opportunity to try your hand at programming a
robot, making the slowest marble run or figuring out
how to maximize your air in a balloon powered car.
Grades K, 4-6, and 7/8 will be highlighted.

Visual Art - Gallery (Upstairs and Down)- 5-5:45

There will be ongoing displays of artwork in the Gallery
outside the Cafeteria and in the adjunct Gallery outside the
Art rooms upstairs : Grade 2 kites and butterflies, Grade 3
weavings, Grade 5 paintings and photostories, Grade 7/8
kites and wreaths, and a variety of artwork from K, 1, 2.

Family and Consumer Science –AC210 5-5:45

What is Fuel Up For 60? Do you know how far your food
has traveled? What is the Dirty Dozen? What does an
emulsifier do? Come to FACS in room AC210 to find the
answers to these questions and more.

Music– Cafeteria - 5:45 - 6:00

Join Travelers 1st grade, Explorers 2nd grade and imagination
2nd grade in a mini concert in the cafeteria. Also, please join
us in the music room (AC213) to see our created instruments.

Physical Education

Welcome to the Heart Adventure Challenge Course! This is a
fantastic journey designed so that the student can move
through the four chambers of the heart in a larger than life
setting. This course incorporates a general understanding of
the heart and its function as well as the importance of
exercise in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. 5-5:45 - Big Gym

Grades K, 1 and 2 only: Little Gym
Come and razzle dazzle your parents with your awesome
tumbling and balancing skills.
5:00-5:20 - 2nd Grade
5:20-5:40 - 1st Grade
5:40-6:00 - Kindergarten


Band

Jr. band is rehearsing today at 12:15. Do not forget to come, even if you do not have your instrument. It is your responsibility to be responsible.

There are no 6th grade lessons this morning, and no beginning trombone lessson. But remember, band is still on.

5th grade violin lessons are not happening after school today, but our performance is tonight.

Tonight is the Unified Arts small concert for the Orchestra and Jazz Band. Mr. Mehaffey will be serving pizza in the band room at 5:30, and the Jazz Band will be playing at 6 and the orchestra at 6:15. We will be done by 6:30

All orchestra people in 5,6, 7 and 8 should be in the band room at 5:30 before the Unified Arts concert at 6 to 6:30. Don't forget.

Tech Squad

There is no Tech Squad after school today.

Cheer Challenge





The 6th annual Academy Cheer Challenge will take place Sat. Feb 2 at the Collins Perley Sport Complex. The doors open at 10 am and the competition begins at 12 pm.  The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for students. There are 25 cheer teams from around the state competing including our own 5/6 Raiders and 7/8 Raiders as well as 37 k-4 kids. Many of those are from our school.
