Attention 8th Graders and Families


On Friday, May 17, all Eight Graders will be walking to BFA for Freshman Orientation. This is an annual event to introduce eighth graders to the wonders of their upcoming ninth grade year. This is always an exciting day. The students will receive a mock schedule for next year and get to meet teachers and fellow ninth graders from the other sending schools.

On Friday, lunch will be provided by BFA. Eighth Graders willbe dismissed from BFA at 2:00 P.M. and walking home. If parents choose todo so, you may make arrangements to pick students up at approximately 2:00P.M. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to give us a call.

Don't forget to get your baby pictures and personal messages in for the yearbookThe deadline is Wednesday, April 10th.  Items can be brought in to your teachers at school or emailed to maguireb@fcsuvt.org


Save the Date

Eighth Grade Graduation will be Thursday 6/13 at 6:00pm with a dance for seventh and eighth grade students immediately following. This is the last dance of the year and it's free of charge for all seventh and eighth grade students. There will be more details

Band


For 5-6th grade teams: A big thank you, and I am very proud of the 5th and 6th Jr. Band for a fantastic week of rehearsals.

Sr. Band will be outside, marching this afternoon. Please bring outdoor clothing.


Drama Club

Dance Tonight -- Fri 4/5

Odyssey of the Mind is Hosting a dance tonight for grades 6, 7 and 8. It's from 6:30-8:30pm  in the cafeteria and it's $3 to get in. 

Arrival and Dismissal from Dances:

Students enter through the gymnasium doors and sign themselves into the dance.

School Expectations (Safe, Achieving, Caring) remain at all evening events and that includes dances.

At the end of our dances, chaperones and staff will walk students through the building to our front lobby. We will dismiss from there.

Please be prompt for pick up as staff and chaperones need to get home too. If your student does not have a ride home, please don’t send them to our dances unless they have made arrangements before coming to the dance.

News from Box Tops for Education

Hey City School! Our last collection competition went so well we decided to set an end-of-the-year school-wide goal.Our goal is 8,000 Box Tops by the last week of school.  Can we do it?!?!  We hope you've still been clipping and collecting so we can reach our goal.

This will be another opportunity for friendly competition among learning communities. Dynamic Design will keep track of total collections from each learning community.  More details coming soon!

Autism Awareness


Friday Activity- have the lights turned on low in your classroom, when the students are not expecting it, turn them on bright, and see the reaction you get.


* this simulates what it might be like for a child who has autism, as they are very sensitive to light.  This can cause headaches, stress and anxiety.
